Comparative Assessment of Air Quality Index in India in Respect to Pre and During COVID-19 Pandemic Scenario
Anthropology,
as a field of science which studies human being, seek to understand the
interrelationship between nature and culture, between environment and
health and try to interpret how a particular culture is
sustaining in a given socio-environmental background. As we always know human culture
is the product of their surrounding environment but it is also true that human
being are responsible to exploit the natural settings by over or mis using the
natural resources or elements. It is our prime responsibility to look into and
to take care of our basic environmental need which include soil, water and air.
We
know how human being is actually exploiting and also polluting these basic environmental needs . We do
breath oxygen but when the air is polluted our health is becoming highly
affected from many aspects by that. Air pollution is one of the most alarming
issues that we have been fighting against for almost a decade now. We have come
down to a state where we are pushing ourselves into a disease-prone environment
and our future generations into a bumbling mess with unimaginable consequences.
And now a days in context of India, it was reported as the most increased air
pollution rate in last few years. But
due to COVID-19 pandemic, many sources of polluting air and water were reduced
down and for that reason it was reported in the AQI portal of Government of
India that there is a tremendous change
have been found in the Air quality and water quality of India.
Relevance
of the study:
The present study will
play vital role to understand the value of number in respect to environmental
condition in our daily life which most of us use to avoid. But it is the prime
concern to understand this AQI value to understand any health concern in a
particular geographical area. With a broader sense this study will find out the
states and cities which have shown tremendous air quality changes regarding to
rapid reduction of vehicles and industry pollution due to lockdown announced by
the government of India.
With the decreased
vehicle in the roads, decreased air polluting activities in the various
religious or non-religious occasion and suspension of the work in most of the
industries to maintain lockdown and social distancing, environment have shaped
itself to its own natural forms. With the decreased burden on the environment
helped it to make itself pollution free and provide fresh air. We do listen to
this news that the air quality is improved but how much it improved can be
accessed via this present analytical research.
Research
question:
What and how much improvement is there in the air quality of India between pre and during COVID-19 pandemic period?
Aims
and Objectives:
This present study
is aiming,
1. To
find out the major states where air quality has tremendously changed by tracing
the AQI value.
2. To
find out the major cities which were highly polluted in the pre pandemic
situation but recovered in the present scenario through comparative assessment
of the indices.
3. To understand the changes through graphical representation in respect to overall pre and during pandemic scenario.
Methods
of data collection:
Data will be
collected using secondary resources. Month wise AQI reports will be collected
from the portal of AQI, Govt. of India. AQI India, an inception of Purelogic
Labs India Pvt Ltd stands against the drastic change in climate that has now
become a global concern. With a diverse team of professionals coming from
different cultures and backgrounds, their motive is to eradicate pollution in
our own little ways.
Analysis
of Data:
The collected data
will be classified on the basis of characteristics chosen for the aim of the
study. The recorded information will be analysed using quantitative approach
including sum, average and percentage. The results will be interpreted and
presented through tables and graphical
representations.
